I'm trying to figure it out "stereo"

Hi, I'm new to Valoster, bought a 2015 base and for the life of me I can not get the stereo to play. Do I have to have it paired to my phone, or subscribe to something? I just need local channels, I turn it on, set a channel, ran the volume up and down, it says it's playing, even tells me the name of the artist and song, but NO SOUND!!
