Back hatch door

I drive a 2013 veloster...pretty much worry free, except yesterday, I could not get the back hatch door open. I unlocked it, started to open it and it was like it caught on something and refused to open. I tried several times to unlock it and open it to no avail. I finally opened it from the inside with the emergency latch, but that’s the only way I can open it. Is this a problem anyone here has seen before? What should I look at as being the cause. Nothing is in the latch to obstruct it...

I have the same problem. It's been busted for a while, and the dealership said the button to pop the latch is busted. it's gonna cost bookoo $$$.
pretty pissed, to be honest.
